Whitefly outbreak in cotton crop

White flies have become one of the most serious problems of crop protection. White flies usually lay eggs on the underside of leaves.

White flies cause damage to plants in cotton crop in two ways, first by sucking sap and transmitting viral disease, secondly by secreting honeydew on leaves, due to which the chances of fungal disease outbreak increase.

The following conditions of white fly cause damage in cotton crop –

  • Nymph – greenish yellow, oval

  • Pupa – oval in shape, present on the lower surface of the leaves

  • Adults – small mosquitoes with yellow bodies with a white waxy surface

Farmers are getting funds worth lakhs for start up, see complete information here

The government continues to implement many schemes to improve the economic condition of the farmers of the country. Apart from farming, the government is making many efforts to increase employment opportunities. Moving forward in this direction, funds are given by the government for start-ups.

For this, the ‘Innovation and Agricultural Entrepreneurship Development Program’ has been started under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana. Through which funds are given to start various categories of start-ups like agro-processing, artificial intelligence, digital agriculture, agricultural machinery, milk dairy, fisheries and animal husbandry.

At the same time, a stipend of 10 thousand rupees per month is being given for 2 months to increase awareness among the farmers about start-ups. During this training is provided on technical, finance, intellectual property, statutory compliance issues etc. The list of eligible applicants is prepared only after undergoing training and various rigorous processes.

Only then do the beneficiaries get funding for the start-up. Where funding of 25 lakhs is given for the seed stage of R-ABI Incubates. Based on this scheme, 29 agribusiness incubation centres across the country have been selected for training. Ashwagandha cultivation

Ashwagandha is used as Ayurvedic medicine. The fruits, seeds and bark of Ashwagandha are used to make a variety of medicines.

In India, the improved varieties of Ashwagandha such as Poshita, Jawahar Asgandha-20, W.S. -20 and W.S. -134 are found. The cost of its seed is about 130 to 150 rupees per kg.

Asparagus cultivation

It is counted among the most expensive vegetables. Along with this, Shatavari is used in making Ayurvedic medicine. Talking about the improved varieties of asparagus, there are many varieties like Asparagus adsendes, Asparagus sarmentosus, Asparagus sprangeri and Asparagus officinalis.

Its Asparagus Adescendes is known as ‘Safed Musli’. Talking about the market price of Shatabari, its price is about 1200 to 1500 rupees per kg.

Bok Joy Farming

It is a kind of exotic vegetable. In appearance, it looks like cabbage, due to which Bok Joy is also known as Chinese cabbage. Many essential nutrients like vitamins and fiber are found in it, which make immunity power strong.

There are many improved varieties of bok choy such as Black Summer, Fang King, Joy Choi, Red Choi, Shiro, Toy Choi, White Flash and Win-Win Choi. By the way, in India, its cultivation is done only in selected places. Although the market price of one fruit is around 115 to 120 rupees.

Cherry tomato cultivation

It is mostly used for salads. It is a high yielding crop in less time. Improved varieties include Black Pearl Cherry Tomato, Yellow Pearl Cherry Tomato, Green Envy Cherry Tomato, Chadwick Cherry Tomato, Bloody Butcher Cherry Tomato and Sun Gold Cherry Tomato.

Cherry tomato cultivation is done much less than the demand. In such a situation, good income can be earned through its cultivation. Talking about its market price, it is around Rs 250 to Rs 350 per kg.

How to prepare the field for soybean crop

  • Prepare the field for soybean crops like this- summer plowing must be done at least once in 3 years.

  • After the onset of rain, the field should be prepared by using cultivator and laveler 2 or 3 times. This will destroy all the stages of the harmful insects. Fields with lump-free and friable soil are best for soybean.

  • At the time of field preparation, mix FYM @ 4-5 ton + single super phosphate @ 50 kg per acre in the field before sowing.

  • At the time of sowing DAP @40 kg + Muriate  of Potash @ 30 kg + 2 kg of consortia of Phosphorus Soluble Bacteria + Potash Motile Bacteria + 1 kg rhizobium Bacteria) level the field by mixing it evenly at the rate of per acre.

  • The amount of manure and fertilizers may vary according to the soil test report, location and variety.

  • To avoid white grub problem, mix Metarhizium species @ 2 kg with 50 kg dung manure/compost with the first dose of fertilizers and sprinkle the field at the rate of per acre.

Management of sucking pests is necessary in the early stage of cotton crop

  • Cotton is a major cash crop. It is a crop grown in the Kharif season. 

  • In the early stages of the crop, the problem of sucking insects such as whitefly, jassid, aphid is mainly seen, which suck the sap from the leaves of the plant, due to which the leaves shrink in the beginning,

  • Safety Measures – For chemical control after 15 days of crop stage,Spray Asataf  (Acephate 75% SP) @ 300 gm + phoskill(Monocrotophos 36%SL) @ 400 ml + ( Vigermax Gel Gold) @ 400 g +  silicomax 50 ml, in 150 – 200 liters of water per acre. 

  • For biological control – Spray with 150-200 liters of water @  bave-curb (Bavaria vesiana)@ 500 gm/acre.
