In Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, rains will continue for the next 24 hours. Rain activities will also be active over East India including East Uttar Pradesh and Northeast India. Moderate rain is possible along the Maharashtra coast including Mumbai. Andhra Pradesh including Telangana, Orissa, Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha may also receive light to moderate rains. Light to moderate rains will continue over North Tamil Nadu for the next 24 hours, then the weather will become dry.

Due to rain in many states of the country, people are getting relief from the heat. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, moderate to heavy rain is likely over Northeast India, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal, East Uttar Pradesh, Konkan and Goa in the next 24 hours. On the other hand, there may be light to moderate rain in many parts of Odisha, West Uttar Pradesh, and Himachal Pradesh with heavy rain at one or two places. Scattered rain is expected over parts of South India, rest of North India and Madhya Pradesh.

The chances of rain are very less over Rajasthan and Gujarat for at least the next 1 week. Many districts of Maharashtra will also remain dry. Now there will be torrential rains in Jharkhand, West Bengal and northeastern states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Uttarakhand. There is also a possibility of heavy rains in East Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Monsoon will remain weak over South India. The effect of El Nino will now continue in August as well as in September. Its effect is visible in the Indian monsoon. Now Monsoon will weaken over West and South India including Northwest India. The low-pressure area created in the Bay of Bengal has now come over Madhya Pradesh. It will gradually move towards Uttar Pradesh and rain activities will increase over Uttar Pradesh along with Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and East Rajasthan. Moderate rain is also possible over East Gujarat. Monsoon will remain weak over West Rajasthan, Saurashtra and Kutch along with Interior Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Moderate rains will continue over the northeastern states. In Himachal Pradesh, there will be fewer rain activities, then heavy rains are possible at some places in Uttarakhand. Chances of rain are visible at one or two places in Delhi, Punjab and Haryana.

The low-pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal will pass through Chhattisgarh towards Madhya Pradesh, but the westerly winds will not allow it to come forward and it will weaken and turn towards Uttar Pradesh. Now rain activities will intensify over Interior Orissa, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, and Telangana including Madhya Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. There will also be heavy rain in some places. Light rain is likely over West Uttar Pradesh, East Punjab and East Haryana including Delhi. Rain activities may also increase over the Maharashtra coast. Moderate to heavy rain is possible over Coastal Karnataka. Monsoon will remain dry or weak over most parts of South India.

Heavy rains likely to continue in many states including Madhya Pradesh

The low-pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal will pass through Orissa and move towards Chhattisgarh and then towards Madhya Pradesh. Under its influence, heavy rains may occur in all these states. Heavy rain is continuing in many districts of Madhya Pradesh and it may continue for the next two or three days. There is a possibility of heavy rains with moderate rains in many districts of Uttar Pradesh. The effect of this low-pressure area will be seen till East Rajasthan.

The low-pressure area formed over the Bay of Bengal will move in a west-northwest direction and during the next few days over Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal including Orissa, Chhattisgarh and northern parts of East Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Telangana will give heavy rain. Drought-like conditions may prevail in many parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, West Rajasthan as well as Gujarat. There will be moderate rain over the mountains. Light rain may also occur in Delhi around the 20th. The monsoon of South India will also remain weak.

There is a possibility of good rain again from August 17, see weather forecast

Due to the effect of El Nino, the weather in more than half of India remains dry. Rain may increase once again in the mountains. Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and West Uttar Pradesh have seen rain on 15th August. After 24 hours, the weather here can become dry again. Around August 17, a low-pressure area will form in the northwest Bay of Bengal, under whose influence good rains will occur over Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and East Uttar Pradesh. The monsoon of South India will remain almost dry.
