Identification and prevention of Khaira disease in paddy

Identification and prevention of Khaira disease in paddy

Khaira disease is a major disease in paddy. In this disease, light yellow spots are formed on the leaves, which later turn brown. In the acute stage of the disease, the diseased leaves start drying up. The buds are few and the growth of the plants is stunted. This disease is caused by the deficiency of zinc in the soil.

To control this, apply Gromor (Zinc Sulphate) @ 5 kg per acre evenly, or spray Talwar Zinc Super-14 (Chelated Zinc 12%) mixed with 1 gram per litre of water.

Weed control measures in the paddy nursery

Weed control measures in the paddy nursery

In the paddy nursery, due to the emergence of weeds, the plants do not get the right amount of nutrients. Paddy plants become weak due to a lack of nutrients, due to which the disease resistance in plants also decreases. The development of paddy plants starts at a slow pace.

Flood the main field 1 week before sowing the seeds, after some time do deep ploughing as soon as the weeds emerge, by doing this the weeds already present in the field will be destroyed. If weeds are visible in the nursery after 10 to 15 days of sowing, control them by weeding.

For chemical control, spray Saathi (Pyrazosulfuron ethyl 10% WP)  4 gm/15 litres of water 3 to 4 days after sowing.

After 15 to 20 days spray Nominee Gold (Bispyribac Sodium 10% SC) mixed with 8 ml/15 litres of water.
