Good farming can happen only when irrigation facilities are available to the crop as per its requirement. When crops do not get proper irrigation at the right time, it has a very bad effect on the yield. In many states, crops have to suffer huge losses due to lack of rain and one of these states is Bihar, one part of which faces the horrors of floods due to rain, while the other part faces severe water shortage. Keeping in view the problems faced in irrigation, the Bihar government is giving substantial subsidy on installation of individual tube wells for micro irrigation.
It is noteworthy that the state government has started micro irrigation system under the Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali campaign in the state. Experts are of the opinion on this issue that about 60% water can be saved by installing individual tube wells. Not only this, it will also reduce the use of fertilizers by 25 to 30% and increase production. The state government is giving a maximum subsidy of up to ₹ 40,000 for installing individual tube wells under the micro irrigation scheme for the purpose of providing irrigation water to every farm. The application process in this regard can be completed on the official website http://horticulture.bihar.gov.in and more information can also be obtained.
