A new Western Disturbance has reached the mountains and due to its effect snowfall will start in the mountains from today. There may be rain in Gangetic West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, and some areas of Jharkhand including Orissa, Telangana and North Coastal Andhra Pradesh. The temperature of many states has fallen during the last 24 hours. Still, from January 27, the temperature of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh will increase by 2 to 3 degrees.

Rain may increase in many states, fog will reduce

There is a possibility of rain in the states of South Eastern Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, North Telangana, North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, Chhattisgarh, South Jharkhand etc. Rain activities will now pick up pace in Andaman and Nicobar Islands also. There is also a possibility of heavy rain in some places. Dense fog will prevail in North India for the next two days, after which the intensity of the fog will start reducing and day and night temperatures will increase slightly, which will provide relief from the cold. Snowfall in the mountains may start from January 25.

Temperatures fall again in many states, dense fog and cold waves likely to continue

Yesterday i.e. on January 23, the lowest temperature of this season was recorded in Mumbai at 14.8 degrees. Temperatures also fell in Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Temperatures increased in Vidarbha and East Madhya Pradesh. There may be rain over southern Jharkhand including Odisha, Chhattisgarh and eastern parts of Vidarbha. Snowfall will start on the mountains from January 27 which may continue till the first week of February. Rain activities may also increase in South India.

Meteorological Department issued an alert, that cold will haunt for the next 3 to 4 days

People are not expected to get relief from cold and fog for a few more days. According to the recent update of the Indian Meteorological Department, a cold wave warning has been issued in many states of North India which will continue for the next 3 to 4 days. People of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab are facing severe cold and cold waves. The cold wave is expected to continue till January 24 in Madhya Pradesh and Bihar.
