Nutrient management of Tomato

  • Tomato needs a heavy dose of fertilizers for a good yield.
  • Farmyard manure @ 8-10 tonnes/Acre may be incorporated into the soil one month before transplanting.
  • DAP 50 kg/Acre, Urea 80 kg/Acre and MOP 33 kg/Acre.
  • Full amount of DAP, MOP and half of Urea are to be added just before transplanting.
  • Rest of the Urea is to be given as a second dose at 20-25 days after transplanting, and third dose is given at 45-60 days after transplanting.
  • Zinc sulphate application (Znso4@10 kg/Acre) and Boron 4 Kg/Acre increases yield as well as improves the quality of fruit.

Nutrition management in cowpea

  • Depending upon availability incorporate 2.5-3.5 tonnes /acre farmyard manure in the soil at the time of field preparation.
  • At the time of final land preparation, 24 kg of Calcium Ammonium Nitrate (CAN) 48 kg of Single Super Phosphate and 20 kg muriate of potash should be applied for one acre.
  • Half of the Nitrogen fertilizers, whole phosphorus and potash may be applied at the time of final ploughing.
  • If seeds are inoculated with rhizobium culture, the dose of CAN be reduced to 16 kg per acre.
  • In zinc deficient areas zinc sulphate @ 8 kg/acre may be applied in soil.
  • Remaining nitrogen may be applied 15-20 days after sowing.

Fertilizer requirements in muskmelon

  • Apply well-rotted FYM/ compost @ 10-15 t/acre at the time of land preparation and mix well with the soil.
  • Use urea 110 kg, single super phosphate 155 kg, and muriate of potash 40 kg per acre.
  • Before sowing the seeds, add the full amount of SSP, Muriate of Potash, and one-third of urea.
  • Use the remaining amount of urea near the roots, and away from touching the stem and mix well in the soil during the initial development period.
  • When the crop is 10-15 days old, then sprinkle with good quality as well as 19:19:19 + micronutrient @ 2-3g / liters of water for good growth of the crop.

  • The use of fertilizer depends on soil fertility, climate and planting season.
  • Apply well-rotted FYM / compost @ 6-8 t/acre at the time of land preparation and mix well with the soil.
