Fish farming is promoted under the “Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana”. For this the state governments invite applications. Under this scheme, farmers are given ponds, hatcheries, feeding machines, quality testing labs etc. Apart from this, arrangements are also given for keeping fish and for their better protection.
The government has started this scheme with the aim of promoting the fish farming business among farmers all over the country. It is also known as Blue Revolution. Fish farmers, fish sellers, self-help groups, fish traders and farmers can take advantage of this scheme and apply.
