Know the advantages and disadvantages of superfood millet

Today the whole world is facing the problem of a food crisis. To solve this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has suggested cultivating millet. Millet, rich in many nutrients and properties, has been grown for thousands of years in many parts of the world. Considering the importance of millet, the Prime Minister has given it the title of ‘Superfood’. Which it has been announced to celebrate the year 2023 as the UN International Year of Millets so that more and more farmers become aware of the merits of millet and adopt its cultivation.

Features of Superfood

According to experts, millet is gluten-free, which is a great source of energy. Diabetes is controlled by its consumption and cholesterol level improves. Also, it helps in fighting against heart diseases. Apart from this, it removes the deficiency of calcium, zinc and iron. Due to all these qualities, it has been given the title of superfood.

Millet production in India

Millet is cultivated in 131 countries around the world. At the same time, it is a traditional food of more than 600 million population in Asia and Africa. Talking about India, more than 170 lakh tonnes of millet is cultivated here every year, which accounts for 80% of the millet grown in the whole of Asia.
