The government is introducing a new initiative to simplify access to agricultural schemes for farmers. Farmers will now receive a unique Farmer ID, similar to identity cards for citizens and pensioners. This ID will enable the government to maintain an online database of all farmer information, ensuring easier and more streamlined access to various schemes.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has outlined a plan to roll out this initiative in three phases, starting with Chhattisgarh. Farmers will need to register through platforms like mobile apps, Common Service Centers, Patwaris, the Revenue Website, or mkisan.gov.in, paying a nominal fee of ₹15. Additionally, linking the Farmer ID to an Aadhaar number will be mandatory.
This Farmer ID is expected to reduce bureaucratic hurdles and make government schemes more accessible to the agricultural community.
