  • Bloat is a common problem in ruminants.
  • Bloating occurs when the gas produced in the stomach of the animal, which usually passes through their mouth, gets stuck due to indigestion.
  • This causes the animal to have difficulty in breathing.
  • The animal stops ruminating.
  • The belly of the animal swells on the left side.
  • The animal stops eating and drinking water and starts lying on the ground and banging its feet.
  • This disease can be prevented by giving the animal 400 to 500 ml mustard oil along with 30-60 ml turpentine oil.

  • Proper management is necessary to control this pest.
  • Seeds should be sown after pesticide seed  treatment .
  • Must treat soil with insecticide Metarhizium anisopliae
  • Raw dung manure should not be used, as raw dung is the staple food of this insect.
  • Therefore, use raw cow dung after proper composting.

Management of fruit fly in bitter gourd crop
  • The maggot burrows into the fruits and remains inside and feed. Infected fruits decay and drop.
  • The fly mainly prefers tender fruits for egg-laying. Ovipositional punctures caused by adults’ wounds fruits making the fruit juices ooze out.
  • Grown fruits infested with Fruit fly should be collected and destroyed.
  • Maize plants grown in rows at a distance of 8-10 cm in the field is effective as flies rest on such tall plants.
  • During the summer, deep plowing of the soil helps to destroy hibernated flies.
  • For effective control of pests, use a light trap, Pheromone trap.
  • To control this, spray Fenpropathrin 10% EC @ 400 ml/acre or Profenofos 40% + Cypermethrin 4% EC @ 400 ml/acre or Spinosid 45% SC @ 60 ml/acre.
  • As a biological treatment. Use Bavaria Basiana @ 250 gram/acre

  • Blight is a fungal and bacterial disease whose symptoms include sudden and severe yellowing, browning, spotting, withering, or death of leaves, flowers, fruits, stems, or whole plants.
  • The disease usually attacks entire plants and fast growing tissues of the plant. Fungal and bacterial blight is the biggest cause of excess moisture
  • For the prevention of bacterial disease, kasugamycin 5% + copper oxychloride 45% WP @ 300 gram/acre or streptomycin sulfate + tetracycline hydrochloride @ 24 gram/acre or kasugamycin 3% SL @ 400 ml/acre or Pseudomonas fluorescens @ 250 gram/acre Spray
  • To prevent fungal diseases, spray Carbendazim 12% + Mancozeb 63% WP @ 500 gram/acre or Azoxystrobin 11% + Tebuconazole 18.30% W/W @ 250 ml / acre or Trichoderma viride @ 500 gram/acre.

How to prevent onion maggot in onion crop
  • The onion’s maggot is a very small white colored insect
  • It affects the onion tuber
  • In large tubers, 9 to 10 maggots attack  and make it hollow.
  • Because of which the onion tubers rot completely
  • To prevent this pest, use  Fipronil 0.3% 7.5 kg/acre  or cartap hydrochloride 7.5 kg / acre as a soil treatment.
  • Fenpropathrin10% EC @ 400 ml/acre or Chlorpyriphos 20% EC @ 1 liter/acre.
  • Spraying Beauveria Bassiana @ 250 gram/acre as a biological treatment.
