This scheme provides expensive agricultural implements to small farmers

In the year 2014-15, the government had launched a scheme called ‘Sub Mission on Agricultural Mechanization’ (SMAM) to increase mechanization in the agriculture sector. A huge budget of Rs 1050 crore has been allocated in the year 2021-22 under this scheme, this amount is more than last year.

Under this scheme, by setting up custom hiring centres, small and marginal farmers are provided agricultural machines, high-tech and high-value agricultural equipment and farm machinery at affordable rates. This also allows small farmers to take advantage of them.
