Union Agriculture Minister Shri Narendra Singh Tomar has once again reiterated the need to open 10,000 new FPOs. He said that “86% of small and marginal farmers are in India and FPOs are being promoted for every kind of assistance. The Government of India is going to set up 10,000 new FPOs in the country, which will cost ₹6850 crores in the coming 5 years.”

Let me tell you that 5 new FPOs for beekeepers / honey collectors have been launched a few days ago. These new FPOs have been made in Morena in Madhya Pradesh, Sundarbans in West Bengal, East Champaran in Bihar, Bharatpur in Rajasthan and Mathura District of Uttar Pradesh.

The FPO is called the Farmers Producer Organization. This is a group of farmers who are capable of agricultural production and are capable of carrying on commercial activities related to future farming. You can also become a group and get registered in the Companies Act.

How to apply
For this application, go to the official website http://sfacindia.com/FPOS.aspx and fill the information asked for the application correctly. Click this link http://sfacindia.com/UploadFile/Statistics/Farmer%20Producer%20Organizations%20Scheme.pdf for more information.

Farmers associated with the Farmers’ Producer Organization will be able to get fertilizer, seeds, medicine and farming equipment etc. at affordable rates along with the market for their production. This will change the lives of small and medium farmers and their income will increase significantly.
