Problem and solution of Rust in Moong Crop

Problem and solution of Rust in Moong Crop
  • The symptoms of this disease are reddish-brown spots appearing on the lower surface of the leaves.

  • These spots are less visible on pods and stems but more visible on leaves.

  • Pods affected by this disease mature early due to which the grains are shrivelled and there is a huge reduction in yield.

  • To control it, spray M-45 (Mancozeb 75% WP) at the rate of 600-800 gm/acre mixed with 200 liters of water.

How to manage weed in cotton

How to manage weed in cotton
  • Weeds are the main problem in the cotton crop due to which the yield decreases. The cotton field should be weed-free for 50-60 days from sowing.

  • It is essential for good yield. Remove weeds by hand before first irrigation or sowing. Also, repeat this process after every irrigation.

  • Use herbicide within three days of sowing, for this spray Dost (Pendimethalin 30% EC) at the rate of 1000 ml/acre.

  • Sufficient moisture should be present in the soil at the time of herbicide application. By its use, the crop remains weed-free for 40 days.

  • If herbicide was not used at the time of sowing, do weeding between 18 to 20 days after sowing.

  • Use a flat fan nozzle to spray herbicide.

Problem and solution of Damping Off in Cotton Crop

Problem and solution of Damping Off in Cotton Crop

Damping off disease is one of the few fatal diseases affecting the cotton crop. 5 to 20% of crops are destroyed by this disease. The effect of Damping Off disease is more visible in 10-15 days old plants. Due to damping off disease, the roots and stems of the plants start rotting. The stems of the plants begin to thin out and the leaves begin to wither. When the problem of this disease increases, the leaves of the plants turn yellow, start drying up and the plants fall to the ground.

Methods of controlling Damping Off disease:

  • To prevent this disease, adopt crop rotation and select varieties resistant to damping off.

  • Seed treatment before sowing is very important.

  • For biological control, treat the seed with Trichoderma viride @ 8 gm/kg.

  • Treat with Vitavex (Carboxin 37.5% + Thiram 37.5% WS) @ 3 g/kg of seed.

Identification and control of Cercospora leaf spot Disease in moong crop

Identification and control of Cercospora leaf spot Disease in moong crop

Cercospora leaf spot disease causes dark brown spots on leaves with dark to reddish brown outer margins. These spots are more clearly visible on the upper surface of the leaf. Infection of the disease starts from old leaves. Under favourable conditions, these spots become large in size and eventually, the diseased leaves fall.

Control: To control this, treat the seeds with a fungicide called Captan or Thiram (at the rate of 2.5 gm/kg) before sowing or if the Disease appears 10-15 days after sowing, then we should mix Dhanustin (Carbendazim 50% WP) at 200 gm/Acre or M-45 (Mancozeb 75% WP) 400 gm/acre at the beginning and after 10 days of the disease appearance.

Identification and control of fruit fly in cucumber crop

Identification and control of fruit fly in cucumber crop

It is a serious pest found in cucumber crops. Female flies lay eggs on the inside of the rind of the young fruit. Then the maggot eats the pulp of the fruit, due to which the fruit begins to rot. The fly makes a hole in the fruit, due to which the shape of the fruit deteriorates and the fruit slowly rots.

Control: To control it, take neem oil foliar spray with Neemgold (Neem Oil)1000 ml/Acre or apply Pheromone-Fruit fly trap at the rate of 10 Pic/Acre or Bave Curv (Bavaria bassiana 5% WP) at the rate of 500 gm/acre in 200 litres of water. Mix and spray.

Identification and Prevention of Powdery mildew in Cucumber

Identification and Prevention of Downy Mildew in Cucumber

Powdery mildew disease is a major disease in cucumber crops which spreads through the fungus. Powdery mildew appears as a white powder on leaves and stems. On touching the parts affected by powdery mildew, the fingers get powdery. Due to powdery mildew disease, the process of photosynthesis is interrupted and flowers and fruits are not formed in the crop. When the problem of powdery mildew disease is high, there is a decrease in production.

Control: Powdery mildew can be controlled by spraying  M-45 (Mancozeb 75% WP) 400 gm/Acre or Jatayu Chlorothalonil 75% WP at 400 gm/acre mixed in 200 litres of water twice at 10 days intervals.
