Electricity bill of farmers becomes zero with Kisan Mitra Urja Yojana

Many efforts are being made by the central government to reduce the cost of farmers and increase their income. In this episode, a special scheme is being run by the Rajasthan government for the farmers of the state. Its name is ‘Mukhyamantri Kisan Mitra Urja Scheme’. Under this scheme, the farmers get rid of the electricity cost of agriculture.

Under the Kisan Mitra Energy Scheme, subsidy is given to the metered farmer consumers of the state on electricity bills. This grant amount is given from 1 thousand rupees, which is payable on the basis of 60% of the electricity bill amount. Through this scheme, small and medium farmers of the state are given benefits. 60% of the electricity bill amount is payable on monthly basis.

So far 1324 crore 47 lakh people have got the benefit of electricity bill through this scheme. According to the government, the electricity bill of about 7 lakh 50 thousand farmers of the state has been reduced to zero this year. Before the start of this scheme, farmers had to pay 10 to 12 thousand rupees for agricultural electricity throughout the year. However, since the launch of the scheme, there has been a lot of relief in the electricity bill of the farmers.
