Along with agriculture and animal husbandry, many farmers also earn well by doing fish farming. Fish farming strengthens the rural economy, which is why the government also works for it in the interest of the farmers. Some state government also gives heavy subsidy for making ponds for fish farming.

The Rajasthan government gives 60 to 70% of the total expenditure as a subsidy to the farmers of the state for the construction of a 1200 cubic meters raw farm pond and plastic lining farm pond under the Kisan Farm Pond Scheme. To take advantage of this, farmers will have to apply on the portal of e-Mitra.

In Bihar too, up to 70% subsidy is available for the construction of ponds. This subsidy is received from the “Bihar Animal and Fisheries Resources Department” under the “Chief Minister’s Integrated Chaur Development Scheme – 2022-23”. Under this scheme, farmers can get a maximum subsidy of up to Rs 6 lakh 78 thousand 300.

Uttar Pradesh government gives a 50% subsidy to farmers for the construction of ponds under the “Pardarshi Kisan Sewa Yojana”. In this scheme, priority is given to SC/ST, minority and small/marginal farmers.
