The cultivation of horticulture crops is being encouraged a lot by the government these days. Because of this, there is a significant increase in the yield of horticulture crops. However, in this episode, the Bihar government has taken a new initiative with the aim of making the farmers of the state economically self-sufficient. Under this, farmers can earn tremendously by cultivating mango, banana, guava and papaya.
Under the “Intensive Horticulture Mission” by the state government, a target has been set to plant mango orchards in an area of 30 hectares in Nawada district. For this, a provision has been made for a farmer to plant a minimum of 8 katha and a maximum of 1 hectare. Apart from this, a target has been set to plant banana garden in 80 hectare in the district, while a target has been set to plant guava in 5 hectare and papaya in 10 hectare. For this, the government is also giving subsidy to the farmers.
Conditional subsidy of 75% will be given on papaya orchard and 90% on other orchards. The condition will be that after the first year 80 to 90% of the plants survive, only then the next installment of subsidy will be given. For this, farmers can avail benefits by applying on ww.horticulture.bihar.gov.in under first come first serve basis.
