To provide access to modern agricultural equipment to all farmers, the government is running the SMAM scheme. The full form of “SMAM Kisan Yojana” run by the Central Government for farmers is Sub Mission on Agricultural Mechanization. Under this scheme, farmers can buy modern farming machines at heavy subsidy ranging from 50 to 80%. This means that farmers can take agricultural equipment to their homes at only 20% of the cost.
