Monsoon started off weak, 40% less rainfall so far

Monsoon rains across India were 40% less in the first 2 days due to a weak onset of monsoon. Monsoon will remain normal or weak over South India for the next 1 week, although the monsoon will reach the northeastern states soon and will give heavy rains. Heatwave is likely to prevail in some parts of Southwest Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Vidarbha including southern parts of Delhi, and Haryana, the weather will remain dry and hot in these areas.
