Know about Mustard sowing, varieties and essential fertilizers

Mustard is one of the major crops grown in Madhya Pradesh as an oilseed crop. If special care is taken in its sowing, varieties and necessary fertilizers, then production can be increased.

  • Sowing- Mustard should be sown from the last week of September to the last week of October. 

  • Normally for mustard, the distance of 30-45 cm from row to row and 10-15 cm from plant to plant shall be maintained.

  • Varieties- The yield, percentage of oil content and grain size are found to be good in certified varieties. The certified varieties of mustard are as follows-

Pioneer Mustard: V- 45S46, V- 45S42 , V- 45S35 l

Bayer/ProAgro Mustard: Kesari 5111, 5222, PA 5210, Kesari Gold.

Mahyco Mustard: MRR 8030, Bold Plus, Ulhas (MYSL-203).

Other varieties – RGN-73, NRCHB 101, NRCHB 506, Pitambari (RYSK-05-02), Pusa Sarso 27 (EJ 17), LET-43 (PM 30) etc.

Essential fertilizers- Apply 6-8 tonnes of FYM or compost at the time of field preparation. And DAP @ 40 KG  Urea @ 25 kg , Potash@ 30 kg  per acre as soil mix.
