Napier grass is an excellent cattle feed and is also known as elephant grass. This grass increases milk production in animals and the health of animals also remains better. Napier grass is very nutritious for animals and it provides green fodder to animals throughout the year. Its nutrition increases the milk production capacity of animals up to 50%. Realizing the merits of this grass, the Rajasthan government has decided to give subsidy on its cultivation.
A budget provision has been made for the financial year 2023-24 by the Government of Rajasthan to encourage the cultivation of Napier grass. Under this provision, now under the Rajasthan Seed Production and Distribution Mission, Napier grass will be planted on one hectare of land at two demonstration progressive cattle rearers in every gram panchayat. By the department, the farmer will get a maximum of Rs 10,000 per performance grant on one hectare, this grant will be given only after physical verification.
