  • Due to excessive heat and climate changes, the virus spreads in bitter gourd crops. Mosaic virus outbreak is mainly seen on bitter gourd crops.

  • Whitefly is the carrier of this virus.

  • It infects plant to plant by sucking sap from leaves.

  • The symptoms of this disease are seen in all the stages of the plant, due to which the veins of the leaves turn yellow and a mesh-like structure is formed on the leaves.

  • Plant growth stops. Fruits are yellow, small and of unusual shape.

  • Chemical management: – To prevent this, use  Acetamiprid 20% SP [Novaceta]@ 100 gm or Diafenthiuron 50% WP [Pager] @ 250 gm or Pyriproxyfen 10 % + Bifenthrin 10% EC [Prudens] @ 250 ml/acre .

  • Biological management: – As a biological treatment, use Beauveria bassiana [Bave curb] @ 500 gm/acre.
