  • Watermelon is a shallow rooted crop, hence intercultural activities can be done very comfortably.
  • Often,weeding  is done between the rows of crops. Weeds should not  grow too much in the field, in the event of large weeds growing in the field, they should be uprooted by hand and separated.
  • Spray chemical weedicide like Pendimethalin 30% CS @ 700 ml/acre during 1 to 3 days before germination of weeds .
  • For control of  narrow leafed weeds use Quizalofop ethyl 5% EC @ 400 ml / acre at 2-4 leaf stage with or Propaquizafop 10% EC @ 400 ml/acre at 10 to 25 days of crop stage.

Now more loan will be available from Kisan Credit Card

Whereas earlier farmers could get up to Rs 15 lakh through ‘Kisan Credit Card’, now it has been decided to increase this amount to Rs 16.5 lakh. The government has taken this decision to improve the economic condition of the farmers.

Explain that currently lakhs of farmers are taking advantage of ‘Kisan Credit Card’. The government wants to extend the facility of Kisan Credit Card to 2.50 crore farmers in the coming days. It is important to note that any farmer can take the Kisan Credit Card related to agriculture, animal husbandry and fisheries etc. Apart from this, a farmer cultivating another person’s fields can also take advantage of it. The farmers of the age group of 18 to 75 can take advantage of this scheme.

Importance of Rhizobium culture in Moong crop
  • Rhizobium bacteria is found in the roots of moong plants which causes atmospheric nitrogen fixation and increases crop yield.
  • Use of Rhizobium culture produces fast nodules in pulses, which increases 20-30 % yield of Moong, Gram, Pigeonpea and Urad and 50-60% increases soybean yield.
  • The use of Rhizobium culture increases about 30-40 kg of nitrogen per hectare in the land.
  • Seed treatment in moong is done with 5-10 gram of Rhizobium culture while the Soil treatment is done by mixing 1 kg / acre for pre-sowing with 50 kg FYM.
  • The nitrogen deposited by Rhizobium bacteria present in the roots of the pulse crop is used in the next crop, which reduces the need of nitrogen in the next crop.

More than 21 lakh farmers of MP got registration done for sale of wheat on MSP

Every year the central government fixes the MSP of 23 crops i.e. the minimum support price and then the state government buys the produce from the farmers at the same price. The Madhya Pradesh government has run the registration process till 25 February to purchase wheat, the main crop of Rabi season, at the support price.

According to reports, 21 lakh 6 thousand farmers of Madhya Pradesh have registered for purchase of wheat on MSP on the e-procurement portal this time. This number is 1 lakh 59 thousand more than last year. Explain that the process of procurement of wheat in Indore and Ujjain districts of Madhya Pradesh will run from 22 March to 1 April.
