Know what is the difference between Soybean Mosaic Virus and Yellow Mosaic Virus

Soybean Mosaic Virus: In some areas, symptoms of Yellow Mosaic Virus or Soybean Mosaic Virus have been observed in some areas on soybean crops. In plants infected with yellow mosaic virus, yellow-green spots are formed on the upper leaves of soybeans. This yellowing of the leaves gradually spreads and Leaves shrink and become zigzag in shape. The main carrier of this virus is the white fly.

Yellow Mosaic Virus: Whereas in soybean mosaic virus, the upper leaves of soybean become leathery and reflect a dark green color. The main carrier of this virus is aphid.

control measures

  • For biological control, spray Brigade B (Beauveria bassiana 1.15% WP) @ 1 kg, @ 150 to 200 liters of water per acre.

  • Apart from this, farmers should install yellow sticky traps @ 8-10 per acre, in the field to report pest infestation. This will indicate the white fly and aphid outbreak, on the basis of which the farmers can save the crop from pest infestation by adopting the above mentioned measures.

According to TNAU

  • To control these pests, take a spray of Tafgor (Dimethoate 30 EC) @ 2 ml per liter of water.
