Moving towards alternative energy sources, India has got the first CNG tractor. On Friday, the Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari launched this tractor.

During the launch, Mr. Gadkari said that farmers will be able to save one lakh rupees annually by using CNG tractors instead of diesel. CNG tractors will reduce air pollution by 80%, while there will not be a ban on driving them under the new emission standard and farmers will be able to run such tractors for 15 years. Significantly, the government is planning to remove commercial vehicles which are more than 15 years old.

Farmers will be able to save their money by using CNG tractors. In the coming days, many centers will be opened in villages and towns with technology to convert diesel to CNG. This will also create employment opportunities in rural areas.
