Control of Red Mites in Brinjal Crop

  • Red Mites are small insects that live in groups on the lower surface of leaves.

  • It sucks the sap from the leaves. This leads to a lack of nutrients in the plants.

  • This causes the leaves to wither and curl downwards, stunting the growth of the plants.

  • Due to its outbreak, the fruits ripen less or fall unripe. Webs appear in the plants when there is more infection.

Control: To prevent this, adopt crop rotation or uproot and destroy the affected plants. Apart from this, spray Omite (Proparasite 57% EC) @ 400 ml/acre or Oberon (Spiromesifen 22.90% SC) @ 160 ml mixed in 200 litres of water.

Insurance cover will be given to 25000 animals

Summer season is a very challenging season for cattle farmers. Due to extreme heat, animals have to face many types of problems. Recently a special scheme has been started in the state of Kerala for the protection of animals. This is actually an animal insurance scheme, which has been started by the Ernakulam Regional Cooperative Milk Producers Union on the basis of heat index.

Under this scheme, farmers of Thrissur, Ernakulam, Kottayam and Idukki districts of Kerala will get benefits. About 25,000 animals in these areas will get the benefit of insurance cover through the scheme. Animal owners will have to pay Rs 99 per animal for the insurance premium of their animals. Out of this amount, Rs 50 will be taken by the regional cooperative union and the remaining Rs 49 will be taken by the beneficiary cattle farmers. For the amount of insurance claim under the scheme and important information about the scheme, please visit your nearest Animal Husbandry Department office.

Identification and prevention of Aphid pests in brinjal crops

Aphids are small, insects that can be yellow, brown or black in appearance. Generally, this pest is found on the lower surface of brinjal leaves, which make groups and suck the sap from the leaves, due to which the shape of the leaves deteriorates. These pests leave sticky honeydew on the leaves, which increases the chances of fungal diseases. Severe infection causes wilting of the leaves and stunted plant growth.

Control: Spray Solomon (Beta-Cyfluthrin 08.49% + Imidacloprid 19.81% OD) 80 ml/acre or Tafgor (Dimethoate 30% EC) 300 ml/acre in 200 litres of water as soon as you see this pest.

Buy drone at 50 percent subsidy, make your farming easier

Today, farming has been made very easy and profitable by using new technologies. One of these new technologies is the technology of agricultural drones, using which spraying of fertilizers and other medicines can now be done in just a few minutes. Earlier, this work used to take a whole day. More and more farmers in the country should use the technology of drones and make their farming profitable. For this purpose, the government is also giving huge subsidy on the purchase of agricultural drones. Not only this, the government is also giving training to youth and women to fly drones.

To avail the benefit of this drone subsidy scheme, ordinary farmers, custom hiring center operators, interested farmers of Farmer Producer Organization can apply on the e-Krishi Yantra Grant Portal (farmer.mpdage.org). In this scheme, along with the application, it will be mandatory to upload a demand draft of Rs 5,000 as security deposit and a valid license of the drone pilot. Let us tell you that under the scheme, small farmers, women, Scheduled Caste and Tribe farmers falling in the individual category will get 50% of the cost of the equipment as a grant with a maximum of Rs 5 lakh.

If available, well-decomposed cow dung manure/compost at the rate of 4 to 5 tonnes per acre must be given.

For good growth, and development of cotton, give (Urea-30 kg)(DAP-50 kg) (Muriate of Potash-30 kg) and TRI-COAT MAXX at the rate of 4 kg per acre at the time of last ploughing or field preparation.
