In the past few days, unseasonal rain and hailstorms have caused significant damage to farmers’ crops. To compensate for these losses, the government has initiated surveys in the affected areas. As of March 22, 12 districts in Madhya Pradesh—Singrauli, Maihar, Shahdol, Anuppur, Umaria, Sagar, Damoh, Panna, Jabalpur, Katni, Seoni, and Dindori—have reported severe crop damage.
According to initial reports, 29 tehsils across 275 villages in these 12 districts have been affected, with approximately 2,160 farmers suffering crop losses across 2,194 hectares. Additionally, lightning strikes have resulted in five deaths, the loss of 16 cattle, and damage to two houses. The government has expedited survey work to ensure quick relief for affected farmers. Farmers with insured crops can report their losses by calling the Agriculture Helpline at 14447.
