Outbreak of girdle beetle will be fatal in soybean, learn preventive measures

Outbreak of girdle beetle will be fatal in soybean
  • Infestation of the girdle beetle is observed at the seedling stage. A characteristic symptom is the presence of 2 whorls on the branch or stem.

  • The larva bores into the soybean stem. The inner part of the stem is eaten by the larva.

  • Tunnelling inside the stem, above the circular cut is the infected part. After infection, the plant is unable to get nutrition so it dries up.

  • The plant is cut about 15 to 25 cm above the ground. The main damage is caused by the larvae of the pest.

  • The pest attack initially starts from the last week of July to the first fortnight of August. The pest remains active from July to October, causing maximum damage to the crop.

  • during August and September. Heavy infestations can result in yield losses of up to 40%.

  • For control spray Profenova (Profenophos 50% EC) @ 400 ml or Novalaxam (Thiamethoxam 12.6% + Lambda Cyhalothrin 9.5% ZC) @ 50 ml + Silicomax Gold @ 50 ml per acre.

Ponds and wells will be built for free for irrigation, 100% government subsidy is being given

Sinchai Nishchay Yojana

Irrigation is such a necessity without which farming cannot be done. Most of the farmers in our country depend on rain for irrigation. But many times it is seen that there is less rainfall. There are many areas where the rainfall is much less than the requirement. In such a situation, farmers have to face a lot of problems. With the aim of solving this problem of farmers, the Bihar government has started the ‘Sinchai Nishchay Yojana’.

With this scheme of the government, there is a possibility of improvement in the decline in the groundwater level in the state. It is worth noting that this scheme has been started in about 9 districts of Bihar. This scheme is to be started in the remaining districts as well. Let us tell you that under this scheme, the government will help the farmers to build ponds and wells for free.

According to the information released by the Directorate of Land Conservation of Bihar for this scheme, a well with a diameter of up to 10 feet and a depth of 30 feet will be built on private land. Under this scheme, irrigation wells of 15 feet diameter and 30 feet depth will be constructed on community/government land. Along with this, ponds (150’x100’x8′) and farm ponds (100’x66’x10′) will be constructed for irrigation purposes on private land. Let us tell you that under the ‘Sinchai Nishchay Yojana’, 80% subsidy is being given for constructing wells for irrigation on private land, while up to 100% subsidy is being given for this on community land. Apart from this, if someone wants to get a storage pond and farm pond constructed on their private land, then about 90% subsidy is being given for this.
