Things to keep in mind in the late wheat crop

  • Do not irrigate the wheat crop with the sprinkler method while the ears emerge, otherwise, the flowers may fall. Due to this the ends of the grains also turn black, due to which there is a fear of infestation of diseases like karnal bunt, blight. 

  • Irrigation should be stopped when the grain is filled and the crop becomes golden in colour. Irrigation at this time affects the brightness and quality of grains.

  • In the wheat crop at the time of the grain filling stage, for quality of the grain, Spray Propiconazole 25% EC @ 200 ml along with 00:00:50 @ 1 kg/acre. 

  • To control root aphid, spray Imidacloprid 17.8% SL @ 100 ml per acre or apply Thiamethoxam 25% WG @ 250 gm per acre mixed with manure/sand/soil in the standing crop and give irrigation.

  • To control rust, spray Hexaconazole 5% SC @ 400 ml or Propiconazole 25% EC @ 200 ml or Tebuconazole 25.9% EC @ 200 ml/acre.

  • For the control of rats, make small tablets by mixing 3-4 gm of zinc phosphide with one kilogram of flour, a little jaggery and oil and keep them near the bills of rats.

March month is very important both for harvesting and sowing new crops. Therefore, this month farmers can get high production by adopting the following agricultural activities:

  • The mustard crop should be harvested after 75% of the beans are golden. In this stage, the amount of oil in the grains remains high.

  • Harvesting is suitable when there is about 15 % moisture in gram grains.

  • Harvesting should be done when wheat grains become hard after ripening and moisture content is less than 20%.

  • Those farmers, who have planted paddy in the field, should maintain the level of water in the field. After 25 to 30 days of transplanting, control weeds and apply urea.

  • The farmer who has only one or two irrigation facilities can do summer moong or urad cultivation after harvesting the rabi crop.

  • If you want to sow sugarcane or sunflower, then complete this work by 15-20 March. Between two rows of sugarcane, two rows of urad or moong or one row of okra can be planted as a mixed crop.

  • To provide easy fodder to the animals in summer, some special varieties of maize, cowpea and sorghum can be sown at this time.

  • In vegetables, you can sow cucurbits and you can transplant tomato, chilli, brinjal.

Many beneficial schemes are run by the post office for the common people, one of these schemes is the Monthly Income Scheme. Under this, husband and wife together can earn up to Rs 59400 every year. Whereas monthly Rs 4950 can be earned.

Any person can open his account under this scheme. This account can be opened both in single and joint mode. A minimum of Rs 1 thousand can be invested in a single account and a maximum of Rs 5 lakh can be invested. A maximum of Rs 9 lakh can be deposited in a joint account.

In this scheme, annual interest is available at the rate of 6.6%. Suppose husband and wife deposited Rs 9 lakh in a joint account, then you will get an interest of Rs 59,400 at the rate of 6.6% interest. Monthly you will get interest of Rs 4950 in it.
