Know, why is the pH value of the soil important?

Know why is the pH value of the soil important?
  • The acidic, alkaline and neutral nature of the soil is determined by the pH value of the soil.

  • Its decrease or increase directly affects the growth of crops.

  • In areas where there is a problem of pH value, suitable varieties of the crop are sown which can tolerate acidity and alkalinity.

  • The optimum pH value of the soil is considered to be between 6.5 to 7.5 because the soil with this pH value absorbs the nutrients in greater quantities by the plants.

  • If the pH value is less than 6.5, the soil is acidic, if it is more than 7.5 the soil is alkaline and when it is 7 it is neutral in nature.

  • The pH value of the soil can be found by using a pH meter or litmus paper.

  • It is recommended to apply lime for acidic soil and gypsum for alkaline soil.

How to use decomposer after harvesting wheat

How to use decomposer after harvesting wheat
  • After harvesting wheat, crop residue remains in the field in large quantities.

  • Due to these residues, there is a possibility of the outbreak of fungal and bacterial diseases in the next crop to be planted.

  • It is very important to use decomposers in an empty field after harvesting wheat or after sowing the crop, to prevent the infection of fungal and bacterial diseases in the new crops. Before use, mix the wheat residue well in the soil with the help of a rotavator.

  • For this, if farmers want to use liquid form, then use decomposer @ 1 litre/acre as a spray.

  • Apart from this, Gramophone special decomposer ‘Speed Compost’, which can be mixed with 4 kg along with 10 kg of urea and 50-100 kg per acre, can be broadcast in the field.

  • When a decomposer is being used, make sure that there is enough moisture in the field.
