  • Downy mildew is a serious and common fungal disease in cucurbits. Due to temperature decrease at night and high humidity, angular-shaped yellow spots are formed on the upper part of the leaves.

  • Grey-brown to orange-black spores are visible on the lower surface of the leaves.

  • As the disease progresses, infected leaves become wilted and scorched and fall off.

  • Its symptoms appear as brown spots on ripe fruits, later the fruits become deformed.

  • The deformed fruit is edible, but it has little or no value in the market.

  • Chemical control – Spray Azoxystrobin 11% + Tebuconazole 18.3% SC 300 ml or Metalaxyl 8% + Mancozeb 64% at 600 gm/acre.

  • Biological control- Pseudomonas fluorescens can be used at the rate of 500 gm/acre.
