Increase income by goat and sheep farming

  • If you are fond of animal husbandry and want to start a new business with less investment, then goat and sheep farming is a good option. Goat and sheep farming is possible in almost all climates with low cost, simple house, normal maintenance and upbringing.

  • Its food can be easily arranged even during drought. Women and children can easily do the work of taking care of it.

  • Goats and sheep are found at a lower rate than other animals like cows, buffalo and it also costs less in fodder. Goat is also called poor’s cow.

  • Goat and sheep rearing is done for meat, milk, skin and wool, apart from this, its excreta is also used in making manure.

  • Goats and sheep become adults at a young age and give birth to children at least 3 times in two years and give birth to 2-3 children at a time.

  • Goat breeds – Milch breeds – Jamunapari, Jakhrana, Surti, Barbari Beetle etc.

  • Meat producing breed – Black Bengal, Marwari, Mehsana, Sangamneri, Kutchi and Sirohi etc.

  • Wool producing breeds – Cashmere, Changthang, Gaddi, Chegu etc.

  • Sheep breeds- Nellore, Mandya, Marwari, Gaddi.
