Mustard cultivation requires cool and dry weather. Mustard can be sown till October, in Rabi season.
Land preparation
For good germination and growth of plants, it is necessary to have friable soil. After harvesting the previous crop, ploughing should be done with a soil turning plough and after that, FYM at the rate of 4 tonnes + Speed kompost @ 4 kg per acre should be applied evenly in the field. and do 2-3 ploughing with the help of a harrow. Remove the other unwanted material present in the field, if the soil moisture is less then first irrigate, then prepare the field, and lastly make the field level by rolling the levelar.
Nutrient Management
At the time of sowing or within 15 days after sowing, apply TB3 (Nitrogen Fixing, Phosphate solubilizing and Potassium mobilizing biofertilizer consortia) @ 3 kg + Tri-Coat Maxx ( A mixture of Organic Carbon 3%, Humic, Fulvic, Organic Nutrients) @ 4 kg + Combat (Trichoderma viride 1.0 WP) @ 1 kg + DAP @ 40 kg + Urea @ 30 kg + Potash @ 30 kg, per acre in the field evenly.
After this sow the seed, for one acre area, 2 to 3 kg seed is sufficient. The crop should be sown in rows. For this, keep row to row distance of 30 cm and plant to plant distance of 10 cm. The depth of sowing seeds should not exceed 3 cm.
