Different weather systems affect different states of India. The southwest monsoon affects the whole of India from June to September. Western Disturbance gives snow in the mountains from October to February and rain in North India. Thunderstorms occur in North India in April-May and Kaal Baisakhi appears in East India. The North-East Monsoon gives heavy rains over Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
