Do better management in the flowering stage of cotton

  • In the cotton crop, 40-50 days after sowing, the infestation of sucking insects like aphid, jassid, white fly, thrips, spider, pink boll worm  that damage cotton balls and other fungal diseases like leaf spot etc. is mainly seen at the time of flowering / ball formation stage, control of these pests and diseases. Along with this, arrangements should be made at the proper time to get good numbers of flowering.

  • Management: Can be Spray Profenofos 40 % + Cypermethrin 4% EC @ 400 + Carbendazim 12% + Mancozeb 63% WP @ 500 g + Gibberellic Acid  0.001% @ 300 ml + Abamectin @ 150 ml /acre.

  • After 10-15 days spray Novaluron 5.25% + Emamectin Benzoate 0.9 SC @ 600 ml/acre or Bavaria bassiana @ 500 gm/ acre + Amino acid @ 300 ml + 0:52:34 @ 1 kg/acre.

  • At this stage, the cotton crop needs more nutrition, for this the following nutrients can be used –

  • Apply urea @ 30 kg acre + MOP @ 30 kg acre + magnesium sulphate @ 10 kg / acre in the field.

  • Urea helps in supplying nitrogen, MOP(Potash) acts to increase the size of cotton balls, Magnesium sulphate supplies the micronutrient Magnesium.

  • In this way, by managing nutrition, pests and diseases, a lot of profit is obtained from the cotton crop.
