A large population of the country lives below the poverty line. Many farmers are also included in these. These financially weak people somehow manage their living but when they have to face any kind of medical emergency, they are not able to bear the expenses. The Ayushman Card Scheme is being run by the Central Government to provide better treatment to such people.
Through this scheme, the government provides free health insurance up to Rs 5 lakh to people living below the poverty line. Let us tell you that till now more than 30 crore people have been given Ayushman cards. This is a central scheme, so persons from economically weaker sections living in all the states and union territories of the country can avail of its benefits.
