On hearing the word pension, only old age pension comes to mind. But the Haryana government has started a scheme under which old trees are also given pension. This pension will be given to such old trees which are in your courtyard, garden or fields and are more than 75 years old. Such trees are often cut down for wood, but instead of cutting such trees, the Haryana government has started this pension scheme to provide good care.
The name of this excellent scheme is “The Haryana Pran Vayu Devta Pension Scheme” under which trees older than 75 years are given a pension of Rs 2500. Since the launch of this scheme, common people have also started showing sensitivity towards trees. Giving information related to this scheme, Haryana Government’s Forest and Environment Minister Mr. Kanwar Pal said that “the state government is trying to protect the environment in the state, under which this scheme has been started.” He told that “this scheme is a lifeline for the people of the state. Although the state government has taken the initiative to conserve all the trees and plants, the trees above 75 years of age give more oxygen due to their spread, that’s why the government has started these schemes.” A new scheme has been made for the protection and conservation of big trees. He further said that “at present this scheme has been made for 5 years, but later it will be improved on the basis of requirement and suggestions.”
