Farmers can earn good profits by diversifying beyond traditional crops, and the government actively supports these efforts. In Bihar, the state government is encouraging farmers to cultivate fruits alongside traditional crops. The Agriculture Department of Bihar has launched a unique initiative—the ‘Fig Fruit Development Scheme’—to promote fig cultivation with substantial subsidies.
This scheme is being implemented across all districts of the state, aiming to boost fig cultivation and increase farmers’ incomes. Under the program, farmers will receive a grant of ₹30,000 in the first year and ₹10,000 in the second and third years. However, the subsidy is available only for farmers cultivating figs on land areas ranging from 0.25 acres (0.1 hectares) to 10 acres (4 hectares).
If you are interested in fig cultivation and wish to benefit from this scheme, visit the official website of the Directorate of Horticulture to apply.
