Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Wednesday interacted with agriculture ministers of all the states through video conferencing and took stock of the agriculture-related work being done during the ongoing nationwide lockdown to reduce the infection of coronavirus.
The video conference was held at Krishi Bhavan on Wednesday and Union Agriculture Minister Tomar was accompanied by Union Ministers of State for Agriculture Purushottam Rupala and Kailash Choudhary. He discussed issues like harvesting and purchasing of rabi crops with the state agriculture ministers. Along with this, he also discussed the arrangement of ensuring the availability of fertilizers and seeds and other essential items for sowing the next season’s crop. A day earlier, the Union Agriculture Minister also interacted with the officials of the department through video conferencing.
At present, the harvesting season of many rabi crops including wheat, mustard, the gram is going on, as well as the sowing of Zayed crops like cotton, chili, and moong. Harvesting or sowing of crops cannot be stopped, therefore, the government has allowed it even during the lockdown and is taking new steps on it daily.
