Today, along with farming, farmers are also earning a lot through businesses like poultry, dairy, and beekeeping. One of these businesses is the business of silkworm rearing. Farmers can also become millionaires by rearing silkworms. Because of these specialities of this business, the government is also encouraging it.
In order to promote silkworm rearing among the farmers in the Shivalik region of Panchkula, Morni, Ambala and Yamunanagar of Haryana, the government will give up to 90% subsidy to the farmers. On this subject, State silk officer Dr Dilbag Singh has said that “For rearing silkworms, farmers have to plant 300 plants on 1 acre. Farmers can plant saplings for a maximum of 2 acres by planting Sahasut trees around their fields. Similarly, for 100 DFL rearing, two units of Ring Xplan can get a grant amount of Rs.72000.
The Central Silk Board, Government of India has made a provision to spend 100% of the grant amount on getting a five-day training and exposure visit to a farmer, woman or man, for silkworm rearing. For this, farmers can approach the silk officer of the state with their application form.
