Government will buy paddy at higher MSP than last year

Due to the irregularity of rains this monsoon, many states witnessed drought conditions. Due to this, many farmers have not even been able to sow paddy. Due to this, the yield of paddy in this Kharif season has decreased significantly from last year. Amidst these circumstances, the central government has decided to purchase paddy this year at a higher support price. Under the announcement, the government will procure 518 lakh tonnes of paddy. For this, the target of procurement of paddy has been fixed according to the states.

The common grade variety of paddy will be procured by the government at an MSP of Rs 2,040 per quintal, compared to the MSP of Rs 1,940 per quintal it was procured last year. On the other hand, the ‘A Grade’ variety of paddy will be procured at an MSP of Rs 2,060 per quintal, against the MSP of Rs 1,960 per quintal last year. Let us tell you that this time the government will pay special attention to the purchase of coarse grains in Kharif crops. Under this, the state governments have been asked to buy 13 lakh 70 thousand metric tonnes of coarse grains. In such a situation, farmers are going to benefit a lot by selling their crops at MSP.
