Government will bear half the cost of tea cultivation

When it comes to tea cultivation, usually the names of North Eastern states come to the fore. But nowadays the government is promoting tea cultivation in many other states also. One of these states is Bihar, which is currently the fifth-largest tea-producing state in India. Here, tea is cultivated on a large scale in Kishanganj, Katihar, Araria and Purnia.

The state government is taking many steps to increase the production of tea here. Under this, the government is providing huge subsidies on vehicles used for the transportation of tea leaves. Under the Horticulture Crop Scheme, farmers of Bihar can avail the benefit of a 50% subsidy on tea cultivation. The Horticulture Department has fixed the cost of tea cultivation at Rs 4,94,000 per hectare. Farmers can get half of this entire cost i.e. Rs 2,47,000 as subsidy.
