Government to give 50% subsidy for building onion stores

Apart from increasing agricultural production, the government also runs several schemes for storage of produce, which farmers can take advantage of. In this series, the Madhya Pradesh government has decided to give subsidy for construction of onion storage houses. The government has sought applications from willing farmers for this subsidy.

Under this scheme, the farmer will get a huge subsidy of up to 50% on onion storage house construction. Explain that for a storage house with 50 metric tonnes of storage, the maximum cost is Rs. 3,50,000, out of which maximum of Rs. 1,75,000 will be given as subsidy to the farmers.

This scheme can be availed by farmers belonging to scheduled castes and tribes of the state who cultivate onions in at least 2 hectares. For more information about this scheme, you can contact the Horticulture and Department of Madhya Pradesh.
