Many new technologies are being used in this sector to increase the income of farmers and cattle herders and increase milk production. One of these new techniques is the sex-sorted semen technique of artificial insemination. This technique improves the breed of animals and also promotes the birth of single calves. With the aim of enabling farmers to take maximum benefit of this technology, the Rajasthan government has decided to give a grant to it.
It is noteworthy that the Rajasthan government has approved a budget of Rs 36.65 crore to meet the target of doing 5 lakh artificial insemination in the entire state in the year 2023-24. Under this scheme, the Animal Husbandry Department is going to do 5 lakh artificial insemination through sex-sorted semen technique in the year 2023-24.
At present the Government of India has fixed the price of artificial insemination at Rs 675/dose. The Government of Rajasthan is giving a subsidy of Rs 335 on this amount. This means that only Rs 340 will be taken from the cattle owners in this regard. Under this scheme, 25 lakh cattle farmers of the state can avail of the subsidy of this new technology of artificial insemination for each of their animals (cow/buffalo).
