With the aim of bringing prosperity to the lives of the farmers, the government is running many schemes. One of these schemes is “Beej Gram Yojana” which was started by the Central Government in the year 2014-15. In this scheme, farmers are encouraged to produce certified seeds.
Under this scheme, farmers grow and sell seeds in their fields. In return, along with the price of the seed, the government also gives seeds at the subsidy of the farmer. In this scheme, 50 to 100 farmers form a group together and they are given seeds through Krishi Vigyan Kendra.
With these seeds, farmers produce more seeds in their fields. In this scheme, the seeds purchased by the farmers are available on subsidy and this subsidy is a maximum of 50%. The Uttar Pradesh government is giving a 50% subsidy on the purchase of paddy and wheat seeds. This subsidy will be available on the basis of Rs 2000 per quintal.
