Dairy Entrepreneur Development Scheme

Milk production is a major occupation in the rural areas of the country. At the same time, animal husbandry is also a major source of income for the farmers. In such a situation, the Government of India is running many schemes to promote milk production. One of these is the ‘Dairy Entrepreneur Development Scheme’. With the help of this farmers can get grants to open animal husbandry and milk dairy.

Under this scheme, the government provides subsidies up to Rs.7 lakh to start a dairy of 10 buffaloes. Loans for dairy can be made available from commercial banks, regional banks, state cooperative banks, state cooperative agriculture and rural development banks and other institutions affiliated with NABARD. Under this scheme, a subsidy of 25% is provided to dairy drivers of general category and 33% for women and the SC category for animal husbandry.

However, to get a loan above Rs 1 lakh, the applicant will have to mortgage his land documents. Along with this, a cancelled check will have to be attached along with a copy of Aadhar card, PAN card, caste certificate while applying.
