  • The papaya being tropical crop favours high temperature and high humidity.

  • It is very susceptible to frost and hail storm.

  • The long days are favourable for good quality and flavour.

  • During flowering, high rains are injurious and cause heavy damage.

    Soil condition for Papaya:-

  • The papaya grows under wide types of soils.

  • However, very shallow and very deep black soils are not suitable.

  • Medium, fertile, well drained and lime free soils are preferred for papaya cultivation.

  • Wash brinjal before consumption.

Don’ts

  • Don’t apply more than the recommended dose of the pesticide.
  • Don’t repeat the same pesticide consecutively.
  • Don’t apply mixture of pesticides.
  • Don’t apply highly hazardous insecticides like monocrotophos in vegetables.
  • Don’t apply pesticides just before harvesting.
  • Don’t consume produce till 3-4 days after application of pesticides.

  • Crop should be sown at the onset of monsoon in the first fortnight of July under rainfed condition.

  • Planting time also plays very important role for the crop grown during summer season.
  • Last week of February to first week of March is the most suitable time for cluster bean sowing for summer’s crop.
  • Delayed in sowing, flowering may be affected due to high temperature which may result in decrease in seed yield.
  • Therefore, timely sowing for summer crop is very important non-monetary input. Temperature should be 25 to 30 C at the sowing time of summer cluster bean.

Season: – The best season for raising sesame seed crop is April to May.

Seed Rate: – Seed rate depends on sowing method, variety of seed and season in braod casting method, under rainfed conditions seed rate would be 6 kg/hectare, under irrigated conditions 5 kg/hectare.

Yield: – Yield always depends on variety and good crop management practices for Kharif crop an average of 200 to 500 kg/ ha for summer irrigated crop 300 to 600 kg/ha can be achived.

Some Information of Moong Cultivation

Green gram also known as moong is one of the main pulse crop of India. It is a rich source of Protein along with fibre and iron. It can be cultivated as Kharif as well as summer crop. It can be cultivated on wide range of soil. Gives best result when grown on well drained loamy to sandy-loam soils. Saline and water logged soils are not suitable for cultivation.

Time of sowing
Optimum time for kharif sowing is first fortnight of July. Optimum time for summer moong cultivation is from Second fortnight of February to April.

Spacing
Use row spacing of 30 cm and plant to plant spacing of 10 cm for Kharif sowing. For Summer sowing use row spacing of 22.5 cm and plant to plant spacing of 7 cm.

Sowing Depth
Sow seeds at depth of 4-6 cm.
