Damping off is a major problem in chilli nursery

  • High soil moisture and moderate temperature along with high humidity, lead to the development of this disease.

  • Rotting in chilli plants is also known as damping off.

  • The outbreak of this disease is mainly seen in the nursery stage.

  • After emergence, the pathogens attack the area between the stem and root of the seedling on the soil surface. Due to which this part rots and eventually the seedling falls and dies.

  • Healthy seeds should be selected before sowing.

  • Spray of Carbenazim 12% + Mancozeb 63% WP [CarmaNova] @ 30 gm /pump  or Thiophanate Methyl 70% W/W [Milduvip] @ 30 gm/pump or Metalaxyl 8% Mancozeb 64% WP [Sanchar] @ 60 gm/pump.
