Government to Provide Subsidy of Up to RS 1 Lakh, Farmers Can Build Their Own Ponds

Farm Pond Scheme

In many parts of the country, farmers face water scarcity for irrigation. Several districts in Madhya Pradesh are also affected by this issue. To address the problem, the state government is implementing the Balram Talab Yojana, which allows farmers to construct ponds on a government subsidy to ensure consistent irrigation for their fields.

Under this scheme, farmers can build ponds at their own expense and receive a subsidy of ₹80,000 to ₹1,00,000 from the government. The scheme, which began in 2007, aims to construct 6,144 ponds in the year 2024-25. For this initiative, the government has allocated ₹5,308.34 lakh in subsidies for pond construction.

To benefit from this scheme, farmers can apply through their area’s Rural Agriculture Extension Officer. Upon application, the farmer will be registered, and the pond construction process will begin after receiving technical approval from the District Agriculture Deputy Director and administrative approval from the District Panchayat. It’s important to note that the subsidy is provided on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Farmers will get a grant of 80 thousand rupees for pond construction

Balram Talab Yojana

Agriculture is not possible without water. At the same time, the farmers are facing water scarcity due to the continuously falling groundwater level. Due to this many times, the fields are not even irrigated and the crops get spoiled. However, to deal with this problem, the Madhya Pradesh government is running Balram Talab Yojana. This scheme is being run under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana.

Under this scheme, financially weak farmers are given grants for the construction of ponds. These ponds are used to collect rainwater. The water is later used to irrigate the field. Due to the availability of sufficient water from these ponds, crop production increases. Due to this farmers get good profit.

To take advantage of this scheme, one has to apply online by visiting the official website of the state government at dbt.mpdage.org. Explain that this grant is given according to the category of the applicants. Where the maximum grant amount of 50% to the small or marginal farmers is 80 thousand rupees and the maximum grant amount of 75% to the farmers of a scheduled caste or scheduled tribe category is Rs 1 lakh. Apart from this, the maximum amount of 40% is given to the general category, 80 thousand rupees.
