The axis line of monsoon is now moving towards North India. Due to its effect, there is a possibility of heavy rain in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh as well as Vidarbha Gujarat and South Eastern Rajasthan. Heavy rain is also expected in coastal Karnataka including coastal districts of Uttarakhand, Maharashtra. There will be very light rain in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh along with western Rajasthan, western Punjab and western Haryana.

  • Their adults are small, thin and have brown feathers, the same nymphs are of pale size.

  • Wrinkles are seen in the leaves of Chili infected with thrips and these leaves turn upwards.

  • In the initial stage, it stops the growth of plants, the production of flowers and the production of fruits.

  • To control this, spray Fipnova (Fipronil 05% SC) @ 400ml/Acre or Media Super (Imidacloprid 30.5% Sc) @ 50-60ml/ Acre.

North and East India will receive catastrophic rains, see weather forecast

The monsoon line is now moving towards North India. During the next 24 hours, rain activities will increase in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Northeast states including Punjab and Haryana. Heavy to very heavy rains are expected in North Punjab and North Haryana including Uttarakhand as well as Northwest Uttar Pradesh on July 12. Rain activities will also be seen in the northern districts of Madhya Pradesh. Heavy rain is also expected in south-eastern Uttar Pradesh including Siddhi, Satna, Singrauli, Pana. There will be good rain in many districts of Madhya Pradesh including eastern districts of Gujarat and southern and eastern Rajasthan. Heavy rain is expected on the coast of Karnataka including Vidarbha and coastal districts of Maharashtra.

We estimate that now there will be heavy rains in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and East Gujarat as well as East Rajasthan. Rain activities will continue in Maharashtra. Rainfall will decrease in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. There is also a possibility of heavy rains in the northeastern states. Only intermittent rains may continue in western Rajasthan. Rainfall will increase once again in the mountains.

  • Eradicate weeds growing on field bunds, wastelands, roadside and irrigation channels/canals to avoid further spread of whitefly to cotton fields.

  • White fly attacks also occur in vegetables like brinjal, cucumber, tomato, okra etc, so do not grow these crops in cotton. Regular surveillance on these alternate host crops from February onwards and on cotton, moong from April onwards should be carried out for timely management of whitefly on these crops.

  • Avoid excessive use of nitrogenous fertilizer because it increases the attack of sucking insects.

  • Make sure to install 40  yellow sticky traps per acre in the cotton fields, which helps in controlling the whitefly infestation.

  • Give one to two sprays of Novaceta (Acetamiprid 20% SP) @ 40 gm per acre or Novafen (Pyriproxyfen 5% + Diafenthiuron 25% SE) @ 400-500 ml per acre.
