Crop Insurance Scheme will provide 50% subsidy, compensation will also be available on crop damage

Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana

The government is running many types of schemes to help the farmers in the country. One of the major schemes among these schemes is Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, with the help of which farmers get compensation for crop damage. Under this, government subsidy is also given to recover from crop loss.

Under this scheme, the premium of insurance cover on Rabi crops is 1.5% and about 50% subsidy is given to help in recovery from crop damage. If we talk about Kharif crops, the premium for insurance cover is 2% and for horticulture crops, the premium for insurance cover is 5%.

Notably, the government started Crop Insurance Week on December 1. You can also get your Rabi crops insured under this scheme. Let us tell you that through the Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme, crop damage caused due to drought, flood, hailstorm, cyclone, insect and disease outbreaks etc. is compensated. Michaung cyclone hits Andhra Pradesh coast, causes massive devastation in many states

Cyclone Michaung made landfall near Bapatla, Andhra Pradesh between 10:00 am and 1:00 am on 5 December. When hitting the coast, the wind speed was 100 to 110 kilometres per hour. Heavy to very heavy rain was seen in many coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh including Chennai. There are reports of a lot of damage due to the speed of winds and heavy rains. Now the storm will weaken but heavy rains may continue in many districts of South Chhattisgarh and Orissa including Andhra Pradesh and East Telangana. There will also be rain activities in Bihar, Jharkhand, South Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Marathwada and Gangetic West Bengal. Rain may also start in Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura after 24 hours.

In this context, the government has started the Aroma Mission to help the farmers. Under this, farmers are to be trained to cultivate aromatic crops. It is noteworthy that under the Aroma Mission by the Central Government, the farmers of the country will be given training to cultivate many types of aromatic crops including lemon grass, khus, mint, geranium, ashwagandha and many others.

  • Lemon grass: Lemon grass is mostly used in the manufacturing of perfume, soap, detergent, oil, lotion, medicine etc. and farmers can cultivate it throughout the year.

  • Geranium: Medicinal medicines, soaps, perfumes and beauty products are manufactured using geranium. Let us tell you that geranium cultivation can give good production in less water.

  • Mentha: Mentha or mint is used in the manufacturing of beauty products, toothpaste and many other products. India is currently the largest producer of mentha oil in the world.

  • Vetiver: Vetiver or Khus cultivation gives good profits with very low agricultural expenditure. Farmers also earn money from poppy flowers, roots and leaves as they are widely used in the manufacturing of expensive perfumes, beauty products and medicines.

  • Ashwagandha: Ashwagandha is most commonly used in many medical systems of India. Especially it is used in Ayurveda and Unani medicines.

Cyclone Michaung passed very close to Chennai due to which record-breaking rainfall was recorded in Chennai and its surrounding areas. Due to this, a flood-like situation has arisen in the entire city. This storm may hit the coast around Bapatla between Machilipatnam and Nellore on the morning of 5th December. When hitting the coast, the wind speed can be 100 to 110 kilometres per hour. There will be high waves in the sea. There will be rain over South Jharkhand including the Andhra Pradesh coast, South East Telangana, South Chhattisgarh, Orissa and Gangetic West Bengal. There is currently no western disturbance in the mountains. The weather will be clear from the mountains to northwest India.
